Anchorage Community Theatre Seeks to Hire a Part Time Assistant Managing Director

Anchorage Community Theatre is seeking a highly qualified and hard working individual for the part time position of Assistant Managing Director of the Theater. The person selected will work directly for and assist the Managing Director and be trained in all aspects of managing our healthy and vibrant community theater. The position entails 15 to 20 hours of work each week, predominately at the Theater. The position pays $16 per hour but does not include benefits.

Aspects of the job include assistance to the Managing Director in many areas, including finding and managing the volunteers who do much of the work of the theater, managing and cleaning the theater's office, shop areas, and theater space, assisting production staff in preparing plays, introducing plays to the audience, tracking revenue and expenses on our accounting software, applying for grants, tracking and assisting donors, taking reservations, managing ACT's store of props, set pieces and costumes, managing ACT's website and email lists, and dozens of other things involving running a theater.

Applicants do not have to have any specific background. The person we seek is smart, conscientious and hardworking, good with working with people and has some relevant experience related to the described job duties. Hours and duties are somewhat flexible depending on the person hired. ACT is an equal employment opportunity employer.

Applicants must submit materials to apply for the position to ACT by the close of business on Tuesday July 7, 2009. Applications must include a resume showing educational and employment experience, at least three references, at least a two page writing sample solely written by the applicant, and a statement of why the applicant is interested in and qualified for the position.

The selected individual will be expected to start between the middle of July to early August. Please note that the position involves at will employment meaning that either the employer or the employee may end the employment at any time, with or without notice or cause.

ACT would consider dividing the duties of this position between two people.
