Auditions for The Underpants, directed by Nate Benson, are scheduled on Saturday February 27from 2 to 5 and Sunday February 28 from 1 - 4 PM. Auditions are held at ACT Studio Theatre at 1133 E. 70th (just off the Old Seward Highway between Dowling and Dimond). No preparation of material is necessary. You will be asked to read from the script of the play to be auditioned for, in dialogue with others. There are roles for 5 men and 2 women:

Theo Maske: A burly, muscular fireplug with a buzz cut.
Louise Maske: Very pretty, mid-20s. Theo's wife.
Gertrude Deuter: 42, and a busybody.
Frank Versati: An elegant gentleman.
Bengamin Cohen: Sickly, thin, asthmatic.
Klinglehoff: An elderly man.
The King of Germany.

Steve Martin, the renowned comic actor, provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when the wife's bloomers fall down in public. "This is funny stuff ... a fine play ... with funny characters and lightning flashes of wit."-TheaterMania.com.

Future Auditions

Signup on our email list at left to get notices of future auditions. The auditions for our next show at ACT will probably be in late August for the first show of our 2010/11 season. Check back for specific times as the show approaches. Auditions are held at ACT Studio Theatre. No preparation of material is necessary. You will be asked to read from the script of the play to be auditioned for, in dialogue with others.

In community theatre, many factors are considered in the choice of a cast. Some of these are: 1) willingness and ability to commit to all rehearsals and performances, 2) balance of compatible characters that has the potential of being a cast "family", 3) the director's best guess of the "learning curve" of an individual, 4) indication of intense motivation and willingness to try out possibilities suggested by the director (willingness to try is more important than "perfection").

We truly appreciate your taking the time and making the effort to come to auditions. We hope you will come back another time if you are not cast. We would love to have you help with the show in another capacity if you wish.
