This Thursday is a "pay what you can" preview night.</p> <p><strong>THE STORY:</strong> Peggy has redecorated the living room and her husband, Roger, can't stand it. Peggy's usual exquisite taste was overcome by a mysterious lapse which caused her to redo the room as if it were a stage set. Everything faces one wall, the "fourth wall," which she's left bare and which is really the audience. Unable to cope any further, and needing someone to talk to, Roger asks their old, dear friend, Julia, to fly up from New York. Julia agrees that something strange is going on, especially since everyone who enters the room begins to behave as if they were acting in a play, or even a musical when occasionally someone feels the urge to sing a Cole Porter song. Julia, affected by the room, suggests Roger call "976-NUTS" and have Peggy put away, which would allow the two of them to have the affair they've never before thought about. Roger can't do that and explains that he's got one hope left: Floyd, a local theatre profes sor. Roger asks Floyd to come over in hopes that he can "Doctor" Peggy's play and bring it to a close, thus allowing him and Peggy to resume their happily married life. But that doesn't work either as Floyd sees what's going on and is in complete agreement with Peggy. They are looking for athletically built people between 40 and 70. The shoots would take up a day of time and they only pay a little for gas and for lunch but it is a fun process.  There is visiting tourist spots in town, hiking Winner Creek trail, taking the tram in Girdwood, biking the Portage bike trail, a train ride to Spencer Glacier and canoeing on the lake, kayaking in Prince William Sound, flight seeing and several others.  These are not speaking parts.  They just have to look like beautiful tourist having fun.  The shoots will be between June 25 and the middle of July.  They are weather dependent so they only be able to give a day or two advance notice.  She needs to fill 19-25 talent spots and due to the short notice, she was hoping to find 50 or more people.  This will allow her client to ch oose whom they are most interested in and hopefully allow extra for the short shooting notice. <h2 align="center" class="topheading">Anchorage Community Theatre News</h2> <h3 class="topheading">Thanks to Everyone Who Made ACT's 2009/10 Season Great.</h3> <p>ACT just closed out our 2009/10 season, our 57th since 1953, by selling out 13 of our 15 performances of <em>The Underpants</em>. We presented six great plays, and just last week presented one of them, <em>HEART</em>, at the Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez. Thanks to all of our volunteers, patrons, playbill advertisers and donors who made this season possible. We would particularly like to thank the <a href="http://www.rasmuson.org/">Rasmuson Foundation</a> who funded replacing the 30 year old roofing of our theatre. Other substantial donors this year included the Atwood Foundation, the Municipality of Anchorage and the Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation, ConocoPhillips Alaska, Nordstrom, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, PGS Onshore, the First National Bank of Alaska, and several ACT Board members and staff. Over 100 ACT patrons also made donations. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. In it a housewife struggles to make ends meet on the salary of her thick-headed bureaucrat husband, but it's not easy. They can't even get a renter for their spare rooms. But then she accidentally loses her underwear while at a parade saluting the Kaiser. The lingerie is returned, but the scandal suddenly makes their spare room the most coveted address in town. Directed by Nate Benson.</h3> <p>Steve Martin, the renowned comic actor provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about Louise and Theo Markes, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when Louise's bloomers fall down in public. Though she pulls them up quickly, he thinks the incident will cost him his job as a government clerk. Louise's momentary display does not result in the feared scandal but it does attract two infatuated men, each of whom wants to rent the spare room in the Markes' home. They have voice samples of some of the male characters that they can email folks.
