Easy Shorts
July 21, 1-5pm / $40.00

Want to make a comfy pair of shorts? Come learn how to read a pattern, cut it out, alter it to fit your body shape and sew it all together!
You will need to provide some of your own materials.
*I yd material for regular shorts, 1 1/2 yds for longer shorts; cotton, flannel or choice of fabric (not jersey or other stretchy fabrics)
*1/4" of contrasting material, if desired, for bottom of shorts.
*1 pkg 1" non-roll elastic
Lynn Murphy has been sewing since she was a little kid and has been sewing and designing costumes since 2004.  She was worked on shows at the PAC such as, The Lion King, Cabaret and Beauty and the Beast. Lynn is currently the Costume Shop Coordinator for the Anchorage Opera.

The Stage Manager's Toolkit

Learn all about a stage managers tools of the trade. We’ll cover the do’s and don’ts of prompt script construction, learn what goes into a stage managers kit, and have a grand old time!
Max Aronson has many years of experience SM productions in many different venues.

ETC Element Light Board Operator Training
August 12, 1-3pm / $20.00
A 2 hour hands on learning experience that will get a first timer in the seat and able to run a show, or design a simple lighting design.You will get enough training about the light board at ACT, that you will feel comfortable on any of the ETC lighting consoles in town.
Dean Brady has a BA in Theater from UCIrvine, as well as an AA in Lighting Design from The Pacific Conservatory Of The Performing Arts. Dean has designed lighting for almost 30 shows, and was a Union Lighting Tech for San Francisco Opera for 5 seasons.

The Playwright's Toolbox Part 1

Whether you are working on your first play or your 50th, these in-class exercises will strengthen your writing skills and generate ideas.
Schatzie Schaefers has written more than fifty plays, many of which have been produced all over Alaska and across the Lower 48. Recent local productions include SPIKES (RKP/Cyrano's), THE LADY IN THE CEMETERY (ACT), and SILVER THAW (ACT). She regularly serves as a Featured Artist & Play Lab Respondent at the Valdez Last Frontier Theatre Conference, received the Connie Boochever Fellowship for Playwriting, and is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
