Education and Outreach Program

Stage Directions. Learn theatre related skills, expand your knowledge and artistic ability, and cultivate your love of theatre and all its aspects. Three areas of study are included: on the stage, back stage, and stage arts. At ACT, no matter what stage you are in, there is a direction for you. If you are an individual who would like to learn more about an aspect of theatre, please contact us.

Spaces are limited, no day-of registration. Call 344-4713 or email actfamily@gci.net to register.

Like us on Facebook and sign up for our emails to stay in touch with our education opportunities! We announce new classes on an ongoing basis, so check in with us again!

Acting Learning Opportunities

Sign up here for our weekly email to receive our announcements of classes, auditions, and shows. You can also click “Email List” on the left hand side of the page below the ACT logo.

We also encourage you to audition for shows here and at other theatres around town. It is a great learning experience, even if you can’t commit to a role. You get a chance to watch others and learn from them, and to get up on your feet and try it out. Auditions are a fundamental part of acting, and the more you attend and become comfortable with them, the more you increase your chances of getting in a show, where you can start applying ideas and concepts you learn in classes.

You also may be able to attend a few rehearsals of a show in progress. You can learn from watching the actors make acting choices, seeing the evolution of a character, and hearing the feedback and suggestions from the director. To ask permission to attend a rehearsal and to set up a time to attend, email us.

Theatre Mentorships

ACT Theatre Mentorships are learning contracts between someone experienced in a particular theatre-related skill (e.g. directing, stage managing, lighting design, lighting crew, sound design, sound crew, set design/painting/building, costume design and sewing, etc.) and someone who wants to learn more about that skill set. ACT Theatre Mentorships are woven into Main Stage productions. By teaching new people theatre-related skills, we are constantly expanding and improving the community of experienced theatre participants in Anchorage. Contact us.
